Corero Network Security : DDoS Attacks Over 10Gbps Have Doubled Year over Year, Confirms Corero

Corero Network Security (LSE: CNS) - a leader in real-time, high-performance, automatic DDoS attack detection and mitigation, published its Full Year 2018 DDoS Trends Report today.

Internet availability can come down to a fraction of a second. When the Internet goes down, businesses go down with it. DDoS attacks are considered one of the most serious threats to Internet availability today. DDoS related downtime or latency can significantly impact service levels, brand reputation, customer trust and ultimately revenue.

In the past year, the number of observed attacks over 10Gbps has doubled. Lower-volume, sub-saturating attacks continue to dominate, with 99.4% of attacks not reaching 95% link saturation levels. Additionally, the large majority of saturated attacks (95%), lasted less than ten minutes.

Other report highlights are:

• The average number of attacks per customer is up 16% year over year;
• The average attack is becoming even shorter, with 81% of attacks lasting less than ten minutes;
• Risk of repeat attacks with one in five victims attacked again within 24 hours of an initial attack
