The first models of the new Mercedes-Benz GLS are available for ordering now in the guise of the GLS 350 d 4MATIC (combined fuel consumption: 7.9-7.6 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 208-200 g/km),[1] and the GLS 400 d 4MATIC (combined fuel consumption: 7.9-7.6 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 208-201 g/km)1. Prices start at € 85,923.95 and € 90,386.45 respectively [2]. The two six-cylinder in-line diesel engines have an output of 210 kW (286 hp) and 243 kW (330 hp) respectively. In both versions, the engine already complies with the Euro 6d standard (RDE/Real Driving Emissions Step 2) even in demanding driving situations. This is made possible by various measures, including an additional selective catalytic reduction (SCR) converter with an ammonia slip catalyst (ASC) in the exhaust gas system. The new GLS will arrive in the showrooms by the end of the year.

As the S-Class among SUVs, the new Mercedes-Benz GLS offers more of everything: more space, more comfort, more luxury. The air of supreme confidence emanating from its exterior stems from its impressive dimensions, which have grown slightly in comparison to its predecessor (length +77 mm, width +22 mm). Its general spaciousness, especially in the second seat row, benefits from the 60 mm longer wheelbase. The three rows of seats offer ample space and seating comfort for all passengers. The seats in the third row can be lowered into the floor to increase the boot space (up to 2400 litres), while the seats in the second row fold flat. Furthermore, a six-seater variant with two luxury individual rear seats in the second seat row is available for the first time.

Special equipment for the rear: comfort for up to seven seats

Optionally, two luxury individual seats with adjustable armrests can be installed in the middle row at no additional charge. These full-size individual seats offer more space and comfort and easier access through to the third seat row, for example when child seats are fitted in the second row.

Luxury in the new GLS is shared generously among all passengers, All the more so when the Rear Comfort package Plus (€ 2118.20) is ordered. This comprises an extended centre console with cup holders, luxury head restraints with adjustable side bolsters and a luxury armrest for the second seat row. This armrest accommodates the so-called MBUX rear tablet - a 7-inch Android tablet. Integrated in the centre armrest, the removable tablet enables numerous MBUX comfort and entertainment functions to be operated from the rear seat rows.

When a hand approaches the touchscreen or the touchpad on the centre console, the presentation of information on the media display alters. Individual elements may be highlighted, for example.

With MBUX augmented reality for navigation, a video image taken by the front camera is augmented with useful navigation information. Indicator arrows or house numbers are automatically superimposed on the image shown on the media display touchscreen, for example.

MBUX Rear Seat Entertainment (€ 2796.50) comprises two 11.6-inch touchscreens that allow passengers in the second row to enjoy movies or music, use the integrated web browser, or call up and input trip information. In addition to the options offered by the MBUX infotainment system, users can also play their own media from a mobile phone, tablet or laptop. If the GLS is equipped with the optional MBUX rear tablet, this can also be used to control the MBUX Rear Seat Entertainment System.
