Industry experts will reveal results from the 4th annual Deltek Clarity Government Contracting Study, to highlight the state of the GovCon industry, the impacts of sequestration, and the forecast for government spending for FY 2014

HERNDON, Va. - April 12, 2013 - Deltek, Inc., the leading global provider of enterprise software and information solutions for government contractors and professional services firms, will host the 4th Annual Deltek Clarity event on April 17 in partnership with the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce (Fairfax Chamber) from 8:00-10:30 a.m. at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner. During the event, industry experts will reveal the findings from Deltek's annual Government Contracting Survey - the largest study of government contractors in the marketplace - and outline the latest information on federal government spending plans for the upcoming budget year. The event will feature government contracting and sequestration experts from Deltek, as well as a panel of industry experts from Unisys, MicroTech, Baker Tilly and the Aerospace Industries Association.

Deltek's Clarity study provides an inside look at key metrics across the major functions inside government contractors, including business development and project management, financial management, and compliance and risk management. The industry study, to be unveiled on April 17, summarizes survey responses from senior executives across nearly 300 government contracting firms about their 2012 performance and expectations in 2013.

Event highlights include:

  • The 2014 Federal Spending Outlook - Deltek VP Kevin Plexico will discuss the impact of sequester cuts and appropriations, as well as the outlook for FY 2014, as well as legislative and policy trends - including Congressman Issa's proposed legislation to reform government technology.
  • Deltek Clarity Government Contracting Study Results - Deltek VP Warren Linscott will deliver the insights and analysis on the top operational, program management, risk management and business development performance benchmarks of successful government contractors from around the country. Government contractors can use the study to benchmark their business against their competitors.
  • Government Contracting Landscape Panel Discussion - A panel of government contracting industry experts, moderated by Jill Aitoro, Senior Staff Reporter at the Washington Business Journal, will discuss the strategies they're deploying to succeed in today's challenging marketplace. Industry experts participating on the panel include: Stephanie Ambrose, VP, Federal Sales Operations at Unisys; Peter Lauria, Partner at Baker Tilly; Christian Marrone, VP for National Security and Acquisition Policy at Aerospace Industries Association; and Lynn Wasylina, Senior Vice President and CFO at MicroTech.

"Despite sequestration and federal government uncertainty, we're seeing government contractors innovating and deploying new strategies to stand out from the competition," said Fairfax Chamber President & CEO Jim Corcoran. "The combination of the release of the finding of Deltek's Clarity Report, one of the best industry studies out there, combined with insights from the expert panel makes this event a no-brainer for anyone in the government space looking for intel and best practices to grow their business."

"The uncertainty of whether sequestration will happen has been replaced with how it will happen, forcing contractors to ask a new set of questions: Which of my contracts will be affected, when and by how much?" said Kevin Plexico, VP of Federal Information Solutions at Deltek. "At the Clarity event, we will showcase the key metrics that are driving the business of government contractors, while also shedding light on the impacts of sequestration, so companies are armed with the information needed to survive and thrive in a particularly challenging environment."

The event is geared toward the government contracting industry and beneficial for C-Level executives, Controllers, VPs of Finance, VPs of Programs/Operations, Project Managers, PMOs, Risk Managers, Business Analysts, SVP/VP/Director Business Development and sales and marketing leaders and professionals.
