Drillisch AG: Preliminary First-Quarter Results 2002 Amounts owed to banks down by 35.7 per cent; positive result for the first quarter of 2002

The Drillisch Group was able to achieve a further reduction in its net debt burden in the first quarter of 2002. As at 31.03.2002, amounts owed to banks were down to Euro 5.4 million. This represented a further reduction of 35.7 per cent compared with the amount outstanding as at 31.12.2002 of Euro 8.4 million. In comparison to the previous year, amounts owed to banks fell by 70.3 per cent from Euro
18.2 million as at 31.03.2001 to Euro 5.4 million as at 31.03.2002.
The management's determination to realize its target of joining the third generation of the mobile telecommunications era with a healthy and independent corporation is also reflected in the result recorded by the Drillisch Group. Compared with the net loss of Euro -13.9 million reported as at 31.12.2001, as at 31.03.2002 the Drillisch Group achieved its first positive result after a series of six negative quarters in a row. 13.05.2002 in accordance with the prescribed deadlines.
The positive turnaround within the Drillisch Group is now evident. The Drillisch Group intends to report further positive results over the remaining quarters of 2002. Besides returning positive performance figures, the Group also aims to improve the market perception of the Group on the capital markets and achieve an increase in shareholder value.
