Eastman Chemical : 2018, Sep 26 - Eastman debuts new cosmetics packaging innovations at LUXE PACK Monaco

Eastman Cristal™ EV600 copolyester and Trēva™ engineering bioplastic expand possibilities for luxury, sustainability in packaging.

Kingsport, Tenn., USA - September 26, 2018 - Eastman will exhibit its latest innovations in cosmetics packaging at LUXE PACK Monaco, the premier show for creative packaging, from October 1-3 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. Among its many advancements to be showcased, the global specialty plastics provider will be launching two new products: Eastman Cristal™ EV600 copolyester and Eastman Trēva™ engineering bioplastic.

Trēva is a cellulose-based plastic that offers better performance with less environmental impact. For cosmetics brands looking for sustainable solutions for opaque and color-tinted packaging, Trēva offers a premium packaging solution that performs as well as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). Unlike ABS, its biocontent enables brands to progress towards their sustainability commitments and improves the brand's sustainability story.

Cristal EV600 is a high-flow polymer with the polish and feel of glass. An evolution in The Glass Polymer™ family of cosmetic materials, Cristal EV600 achieves a deep and colorless transparency with superior luminosity. It also outperforms other copolyesters with better gate aesthetics. The result is a luxurious sparkling effect-making Cristal EV600 the new standard for cosmetics packaging, especially for medium- to thick-walled applications.

Eastman is also proud to have collaborated with Groupe Rocher on an innovation process that has resulted in the design of a new 'ecodesign compact' concept, made entirely of Eastman's two new materials. Groupe Rocher shared their concept for the ecodesign, simplifying processing into a single step instead of the typical three-step process. The design also eliminates the metal hinge pins and uses plastic pins instead.
