OneAccess' Open Virtualization Platform and vRouter VNF enable multi-vendor solution for Telco operators and large enterprises

Kapsch CarrierCom, a Kapsch Group company, is a leading global producer, supplier and systems integrator of end-to-end telecommunications solutions for public and railway operators, urban transport organizations and companies seeking real-time asset management solutions.

By utilizing OneAccess' virtualization environment, OneAccess has helped Kapsch to architect a branch office virtualized networking solution powered by its Open Virtualization Platform (OVP), which lays the foundation for hosting, chaining and managing OneAccess' Virtual Network Functions (VNFs), together with those of third parties.

Kapsch is adopting a customized approach to universal customer premise equipment (uCPE) in order to meet all of its customers' varying requirements, ensuring full end-to-end integration and delivery. KCC integrated OneAccess OneManage and Design Studio solution with a third-party orchestration solution and the OneAccess OVP middleware in its white-box. This enables Kapsch to offer Telco operators and large enterprises a scalable, future-proof and fully open uCPE solution that can support a variety of different customer-defined deployment models, from a 'thin uCPE' to one hosted in a datacenter.

'We chose to partner with OneAccess because it has both the technical expertise and the software capability that allow us to create a completely open, multi-vendor virtualization solution for our Telco and enterprise customers,' comments Marc Bouteyre, Head of SDN/NFV Solution Management, Kapsch. 'OneAccess Design Studio enabled us to visually architect the full solution quickly and easily, and create the necessary Network Service Description. Its OVP platform sits on our own white-box and we're using it to power OneAccess' vRouter VNF. Additionally, we also have the power and the freedom to introduce VNFs from third parties that OneAccess will help us to validate and certify. OneAccess truly understands what it means to create an 'open' system.'

Kapsch's uCPE networking system delivers virtualized branch office networking functions that help Telco operators, communication service providers and enterprises reduce networking costs, improve performance, and deliver new, revenue-generating services, optimized to each customer,' adds Didier Brédy, CEO, OneAccess Networks. 'Branch office networking is evolving fast and pre-packaged, open solutions like this deliver real competitive advantage to innovative system and solution integrators like Kapsch CarrierCom.'

Kapsch evaluated four competing solutions before selecting OneAccess as its partner. After a successful Proof of Concept with a major service provider in 2017, the partnership is now engaged in its first live project.
