The Golfech reactors on the Garonne river could potentially shutdown during the heat wave that will see temperatures peak at near 39 degrees celsius in the region Thursday and Friday, according to Meteo France's weather forecast.

The two reactors produce 1.3 gigawatts (GW) each, therefore a potential 2.6 GW of available capacity may go offline in the coming days.

French nuclear availability is currently at 57% with 26.8 GW offline.
