- Solar park to be built in 2019

- No use of state subsidies

- Green electricity" is enough for the equivalent of 1,400 households

Energiekontor AG and innogy SE have concluded a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a solar park planned by Energiekontor. The plant planned in Absberg in the Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen is to produce around 5 million kWh of electricity per year on an area of approx. 5.5 hectares - equivalent to about eight football pitches. This is sufficient to cover the annual electricity needs of around 1,400 households.

Thorsten Bomm, Head of Customer Commodity Management at innogy SE: "More and more customers are attaching importance to reducing their CO2 footprint and want to switch to electricity from renewable energies in the medium to long term. For innogy, this supply contract is therefore not only a consistent implementation of our brand strategy, but also a further building block for innovative products in our green procurement and sales portfolio".

"It is still a pioneering achievement to realise solar parks on a PPA basis in Germany. With innogy, we have now found the second major partner to go this way with us. Once again it has become apparent that ecology and economy have long since ceased to be opposites. This brings us one step closer to our vision that one day the entire energy requirement will be met 100 percent from renewable energy," says Peter Szabo, CEO of Energiekontor AG, with conviction.

In contrast to the photovoltaic systems, most of which are remunerated under the EEG, the production from the Absberg solar park involves the supply of electricity generated from renewable sources without the need for state subsidies. In this respect, this pioneering PPA between innogy and Energiekontor is one of the first cooperations of its kind in Germany.

About Energiekontor AG:

For nearly 30 years, Energiekontor has stood for a sound approach to business and a wealth of experience in wind power. Formed in Bremerhaven in 1990, the company was one of the pioneers in the industry and is now one of the leading German project developers. Its core business covers planning, construction and operational management of wind farms in Germany and abroad, and was expanded to include solar power in 2010. Energiekontor also currently owns and operates wind farms and a solar park with a total rated power of around 280 megawatts. Energiekontor AG intends to be a pioneer when it comes to economic viability in realising the first wind farms and solar parks at market prices without state subsidies in all target markets as quickly as possible.

In addition to its headquarters in Bremen, Energiekontor also maintains offices in Bremerhaven, Hagen im Bremischen, Aachen, Dortmund, Bernau (near Berlin) and Potsdam. The company also has branch offices in England (Leeds), Scotland (Glasgow), Portugal (Lisbon), the Netherlands (Nijmegen), the US (Austin/Texas and Rapid City/South Dakota) and France (Toulouse, Rouen).

The track record speaks for itself: 122 wind farms and seven solar parks completed with a total rated power of just under 1 gigawatt. This corresponds to an investment volume of more than EUR 1.6 billion.

Energiekontor went public on May 25, 2000. The shares of Energiekontor AG (WKN 531350/ISIN DE0005313506) are listed in the General Standard segment of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and can be traded on all German stock exchanges.
