EnviTec Biogas AGM: Noticeably higher dividend after strong FY 2017

  • Annual General Meeting approves dividend proposal of EUR 1.00 per share for FY 2017, up from EUR 0.60 in previous year
  • All agenda items approved by vast majority in the interest of the company
  • CEO Olaf von Lehmden makes strong appeal to policy-makers

Lohne, 3 July 2018 - At today's Annual General Meeting, the shareholders of EnviTec Biogas AG (ISIN: DE000A0MVLS8) rewarded the company's positive performance. Although the market environment remained difficult, the company boosted both its sales revenues and its earnings in the fiscal year 2017. This was reflected in the votes. The acts of the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board were ratified by a large majority and the other items on the agenda were also decided in the interest of the company. The proposal to distribute EUR 14.85 million of EnviTec Biogas AG's profit of EUR 57.5 million to the shareholders in the form of a dividend of EUR 1.00 per eligible share also met with great approval. The shareholders attending the AGM represented approx. 85.49% of the share capital.

In his speech, CEO Olaf von Lehmden reported in detail on the business trend in 2017 and addressed the latest developments in the global biogas markets. In the past year, the political framework conditions again had an adverse impact on the market environment, especially in the German home market. The company nevertheless recorded a sharp rise in domestic revenues. Moreover, business activities outside Germany, which were continuously expanded over the past years, are making an increasing contribution to the company's growth. In fiscal 2017, as much as one third of the revenues was generated in the Group's international markets. A breakdown by segments shows that the Service segment and the Own Plant Operation segment, in particular, achieved sustainable growth. At EUR 24.6 million, EBITDA reached the highest level in the history of EnviTec Biogas AG in the past fiscal year.

"The past fiscal year 2017 has shown that we now have the right size and are fully geared to efficiency in all sub-segments. This required some painful structural adjustments. The company now has an optimised process and cost structure, which is why we generated a very pleasant result in spite of the continued difficult market environment. This is all the more remarkable, as policy-makers continue to put obstacles in our way, although biogas can make an important contribution to achieving the necessary environmental targets such as reducing immissions in the transport sector through the use of biomethane. The biogas industry should no longer be forced to produce merely EEG electricity, as this would allow us to effectively demonstrate the many benefits of this energy source. With a view to the future, we will continue to work towards our strategic goal of an integrated business model that is profitable across all segments. In this context, we will continue to expand the activities of our Plant Construction and Service segments on an international scale. In the Own Plant Operation segment, we are working to optimise the portfolio of existing plants," said Olaf von Lehmden.

At the Annual General Meeting, the Executive Board confirmed its forecast of revenues at the prior year level and a slightly better operating result than in the previous year.
