Lohne/Saerbeck, 20 December 2018 - 'Prospects for the key technology biogas and our business are now better than they have been for a long while,' said Olaf von Lehmden, CEO of EnviTec Biogas AG, in summing up the events of the last financial year. Von Lehmden took the occasion of the internal staff year-end meeting to look back over the last year of business for the biogas all-rounder based in Lohne and Saerbeck, Germany. 'For 2019, we are already implementing half of our planned revenue in ongoing plant engineering projects,' the CEO continued. 'own operations achieved record results in 2018 and we expect another slight uptick in turnover for our service business next year.'

He also noted the particularly welcoming news that that biogas sector once again has the ear of government in Germany. 'If we look at the current debates in German environmental policy and the media in general, biogas is the ideal solution for reining in the biggest greenhouse gas emitters - namely heat generation and the transport sector.' While he believes there is still much work to do in convincing politicians of all of the advantages of this key technology, 'ultimately, we simply have the facts on our side,' says von Lehmden: 'biogas cuts emissions by 90% compared to oil and particulates by 90% compared to diesel.'

Especially in transport, says von Lehmden, biomethane could finally achieve the long-awaited turnaround. The CEO also noted how the success of the company's own gas upgrading technology EnviThan has been reflected in the selection of EnviTec's innovative 'Drive Biogas' business model as one of the Top 10 for the Public Prize 'Innovation of the Year' at EuroTier 2018. The business model promotes the use of biogas as a fuel in the transport sector as bio-CNG (compressed natural gas from biomethane). Von Lehmden: 'As a plant engineering firm as well as operators of biogas and gas upgrading plants, this gives us the option of further refining the biomethane we ourselves produce and utilising this as a fuel.'

Von Lehmden closed his speech by commenting on the forecast for the next financial year: with results expected to further improve on last year's figures, 'we expect a general increase in earnings for 2019,' he concluded. Capital investment of EUR 5 million is also planned, the bulk of which will be spent on EnviTec's core business - its profitable own operations.
