euromicron Deutschland GmbH, one of Germany's leading system houses in the future market of the Internet of Things, has equipped the Coreum - World of Construction Machinery, with state-of-the-art network and safety engineering. The Coreum campus, which opened in October 2018, is designed as a centre for exhibitions, trainings and conferences and was constructed on a 160,000 m2 area in Stockstadt near Frankfurt/Main, Germany.

Centrepiece is a forum, which houses congress and meeting rooms including gastronomy and an indoor digging space and the technical service centre of the Kiesel group. Furthermore, the Coreum encompasses a factory building, a logistics center and a 80,000 m2 outdoor construction machine park with demo-construction sites. Whereas the storehouse came into existence already in 2012, the forum and the factory building were completed in 2018. In these newly industrial building, euromicron installed a complete fibre optic network infrastructure between the engineering rooms and beyond a data network with copper cabling, fibre optic routes, server racks and Wi-Fi access points. Among all campus buildings including the storehouse, fibre optic links together with active network components were established. Moreover, top-quality IP video surveillance cameras were installed in the new buildings and linked into the network. State-of-the-art firewalls see to the required IT safety on campus and they enable a sophisticated management of access rights. The order volume is a six-figure amount.

The network and safety solution realized in the Coreum is based on the cloud-based Cisco Meraki architecture, which distinguishes itself by intuitive usability and which allows the centralized appliance and administration of company networks via dashboard. As Cisco Gold Partner and an official Cisco Meraki Partner, euromicron Deutschland provides the solution as a Managed Service for an all-inclusive price.

Users receive a turn-key network platform in which all the required network tools and management applications are integrated. In the Coreum, these are 24 access and core-switches, 52 Wi-Fi access points, 28 security cameras and 2 firewall gateways. The all-inclusive price includes service and support, and updates with new features in the ongoing operation.

The biggest challenge of the Coreum project was the shortening of the schedule: caused by the 60 year anniversary of the Kiesel group the originally planned opening date of the World of Construction Machinery was preponed by several weeks. This task was mastered competently by the euromicron specialists and to the fullest satisfaction of the client: 'All installation work was performed in a highly professional manner, the immediate operational readiness and complete functionality of all lots by euromicron was impressive', emphasizes Björn Hickmann, general manager of the Coreum GmbH.
