Ubeeqo, subsidiary of Europcar Mobility Group, consolidates its leadership position and becomes the number one car-sharing player in Paris

For the creation of its new Mobilib service, the City of Paris has entrusted Ubeeqo with management of 850 on-street parking spaces with or without charging stations, following calls for tenders. These new parking spaces operated will enable Ubeeqo to expand its fleet of self-service vehicles, enhancing mobility for Parisians. They will feature vehicles of all categories, with a large proportion of electric and hybrid cars. As a result, Ubeeqo will be providing a total of nearly 1,100 vehicles by the end of 2019, thereby consolidating its leadership position in the French capital. This achievement once again demonstrates the shrewdness of Europcar Mobility Group's strategy, which aims to offer clients a broad array of mobility solutions, whether it is for urban mobility needs or for long distances.

Ubeeqo at the heart of Mobilib

To create its Mobilib service, the City of Paris will be offering two kinds of services:

Parking spaces with charging stations: Ubeeqo is the only company selected to operate this Mobilib service. The 713 parking spaces are thus attributed to the Europcar Mobility Group subsidiary, which will be responsible for providing Parisians with rechargeable electric and hybrid vehicles.

Parking spaces without charging stations: the City of Paris selected four service providers to operate this Mobilib service (Ubeeqo, Drivy, Communauto, Ada).

Having won a total of 850 on-street parking spaces which complement its existing proximity parking offer, Ubeeqo now stands out as the number one car-sharing operator in the French capital.

Ubeeqo: a resounding and growing success story since its establishment in Paris in 2015

Active in Paris since 2015, Ubeeqo has achieved ever-growing success since the introduction of its service. To meet the steady growth in user numbers (+20% every month in 2018), Ubeeqo's fleet doubled between 2017 and 2018, reaching 500 vehicles at the end of 2018. Vehicles making up the company's fleet have always been available in both on-street parking spaces (app. 40) and underground parking lots (app. 460).

Having won this call for tenders, Ubeeqo will now be able to expand its Paris fleet considerably, while making its vehicles more accessible.

On-street parking spaces will feature primarily electric and hybrid vehicles that meet the requirements of the Clean Air Plan. In addition to these on-street spaces, a portion of the Ubeeqo fleet will remain available in underground parking lots. By the end of 2019, Parisians will be able to take advantage of no less than 1,100 vehicles. This offering will help promote environmentally-friendly ride in urban areas.

"The choice of the City of Paris is a great source of pride for Ubeeqo and Europcar Mobility Group. Ubeeqo's success in recent years clearly demonstrates that our solution meets city dwellers' new mobility expectations: practical, accessible, and an ever more attractive alternative to individual car ownership." - Emmanuel Nedelec, Head of International Development, Ubeeqo.

An economic, practical and sustainable mobility solution to meet the challenges of tomorrow

On average, cars remain parked more than 95% of the time (source: study from Cerema, expertise and study Center dedicated to risks, environment, mobility and development - January 2017). In this context, Ubeeqo's mobility offering aims to encourage users to forgo individual vehicle ownership in city centers, opting instead for multimodality. The uniqueness of Ubeeqo's offering lies in its "round trip" model, with vehicles returned to their original station.

An historical player on the vehicle rental market, Europcar Mobility Group diversified its activity in recent years, putting forth mobility solutions ranging from car-sharing solutions to chauffeur services, while continuing to expand and digitalize its traditional rental services.

Caroline Parot, Europcar Mobility Group CEO, comments: "Car-sharingis a natural extension of vehicle rental. Under the Europcar brand, we have been helping our clients get around through shared use of vehicles for nearly 70 years. We provide this service daily and on a large scale, thanks to our fleet management expertise. With Ubeeqo, we are offering a similar service, featuring a 100% digitized customer journey, that has already been introduced in 11 European cities. As an international Group with French roots, we are particularly proud to have won these calls for tenders, and to be working in a city at the forefront of the fight against pollution and congestion."
