It's easy to see why the Discovery Museum in Acton received Boston Magazine's 2018 Best of Boston® award for Best Family Friendly Museum, West. A space where kids of all ages and abilities can learn and explore together is one that we're proud to give back to.

"There's just something so special about this place," said Eversource Community Relations Representative JoAnne O'Leary. "We're thrilled to present the Discovery Museum with a grant to help them continue to power the possibilities for local children."

Over the past 36 years, the Discovery Museum has been committed to inspiring children through interactive discovery and hands-on learning. We're excited to support a place that is fully accessible, offers hands-on STEAM exhibits, and has twice the exhibit space of their original facility.

The opportunities to learn new things aren't limited to the indoors either. Two years ago, the Discovery Museum built a nature playscape and treehouse called Discovery Woods which is open year-round. This area was intentionally designed to be low tech made with natural and familiar materials to be family friendly.

"Our goal is to give families the inspiration to learn and play together in an environment that is welcoming to all," said Chief Development Officer Marie Beam. "Through hands-on, open-ended play and with the support of the adults in their lives, children can become experienced explorers and problem-solvers, ready to take on all kinds of challenges with confidence."

Leaders at the Discovery Museum are also committed to making the museum financially accessible, with special discounts for military service members, teachers, and seniors. Our Community Impact Grant will help them continue to provide these services.

So the next time you find yourself driving down Route 27 in Action, keep an eye out for the giant, green dinosaur on the side of the road and stop in to the Discovery Museum.
