Olathe, Kan. - Demonstrating a commitment to ensuring school buses remain the safest way for students to get to and from school, five First Student locations in Kansas have achieved a perfect score on transportation safety reviews by the Kansas State Department of Education.

The annual review aims to ensure school buses are operating safely in the state. Nearly 230,000 students in Kansas ride school buses every day. As part of the review, the state conducts fleet inspections, analyzes maintenance records and examines driver data.

The First Student locations to receive a perfect score include:

  • Coffeyville
  • Gardner
  • De Soto
  • Lawrence
  • Olathe

'We recognize the tremendous responsibility placed upon us every school day to provide safe and reliable transportation,' said John Billigmeier, First Student area general manager. 'Receiving a perfect score on the state transportation safety review shows the dedication of our location teams in the communities we serve. At First Student, we are committed to providing the safest, most reliable and most technologically-advanced service in the school bus industry.'

These five First Student locations in Kansas transport more than 17,000 students to and from school each day. The company is a trusted partner to more school districts across North American than any other school transportation provider.
