TransPennine Express (TPE) has now launched its Transform grant scheme with £50k of funding available for community and environmental projects.

As part of the scheme, organisations and individuals from across the North and Scotland are being invited to apply for grants of up to £5k to help support causes across the TPE rail network.

People will have until 17:00 on 21 September 2018 to submit their entries which must be submitted via the TPE website.

Last year, the train company donated £50k to 12 recipients as part of the annual competition supporting a wide range of causes including Royal Mencap Society's Gateway Project in Chorley Lancashire, where the money will help create development opportunities for those with learning disabilities across the local community. In the North East, Groundwork North East and Cumbria also received funding for Green Links, an outdoor programme for those with Young Onset Dementia in Thornaby.

Charlie French from TransPennine Express commented; 'Transform is now officially open and applicants will have four weeks to enter online using our website.

'We want to help support our local communities and are looking for initiatives that will really benefit the regions we serve and I would encourage people to get in touch with their projects and ideas.'

Transform is open to: community groups, clubs, schools, charities and anyone who permits open access to their land.

Decisions about funding will be made by both TPE colleagues and customers using the evidence and information provided.
