FRANKFURT (Reuters) - The Opal gas pipeline, which links arrivals from the undersea Nord Stream 1 pipeline with onshore European grids, must stop auctioning volumes of 15.9 million kilowatt hours per hour with immediate effect, Germany's network regulator said on Friday.
The move comes in the wake of a ruling by Europe's top court on Tuesday to this extent.
Total Opal capacity amounts to 40 million kWh/h.
The European Court of Justice overruled a previous European Union decision that allowed Opal to sell and ship more supply, after it was contested by Poland in a geopolitically sensitive and long-running case.
