Froutan will provide critical insight to enhance Nirvanix's technology leadership and increase market share gains against both cloud service providers and storage hardware vendors. He will be responsible for driving long-term cloud storage strategy and vision to anticipate market direction and customer and partner needs. In collaboration with Nirvanix's Engineering Organization, Froutan will chart the future technology direction of the company to further develop its services and optimize data center efficiency to support Nirvanix's increasing base of enterprise-class customers.

Froutan has extensive experience in the cloud services industry, and was most recently at Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) as Head of Global Data Center Infrastructure, responsible for designing, building and managing the extremely high levels of reliability and efficiency present in Google's worldwide green data center operations. Prior to Google, Froutan was Vice President of Product Development at Rackspace Hosting, where he led the team that pioneered the launch of Rackspace Cloud and other key managed services.

"Over the last six months, Nirvanix has posted major share gains in Fortune 500 companies versus its principal competitors," said Scott Genereux, President and CEO, Nirvanix. "With Paul's strong background in managed services and data center efficiency, we're now in a position to further expand our market presence and help even more enterprise customers make the shift to the enterprise cloud."

"Nirvanix is at a strategic inflection point in the cloud industry with substantial differentiation and growth potential," said Paul Froutan, CTO, Nirvanix. "The company is the only service provider to own a Public Cloud Storage Network and deliver Private Cloud Storage nodes, enabling it to provide Hybrid, Federated Cloud Storage with complete network visibility, management and service level guarantees. I plan to expand upon this competitive advantage and enable the company to make significant inroads in a market that is forecast to reach $7B by 2014."

Other notable accomplishments for Froutan include a patent received for Exterminator(TM), the first Intrusion Detection and Response System in the hosting industry, and the design and implementation of PrivateNet(TM), the first private back-end network offered by managed service providers to enable secure communication between a customer's servers in multiple physical locations.
