CALGARY, Alberta (AP) _ Gran Tierra Energy Inc. (GTE) on Monday reported a first-quarter loss of $251.6 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Calgary, Alberta-based company said it had a loss of 69 cents. Losses, adjusted for asset impairment costs and investment costs, came to 32 cents per share.

The oil and natural gas company posted revenue of $86.1 million in the period.

In the final minutes of trading on Monday, the company's shares hit 30 cents. A year ago, they were trading at $2.19.
