New York, NY - June 11, 2013 - Hampshire Group, Limited (OTC Markets: HAMP), a leading provider of sportswear, today announced that it has sold the Scott James brand and related assets as a stand-alone business to be operated by its founder, Scott Kuhlman. In selling the Scott James division, Hampshire Group will be able to devote more resources to its core businesses of Hampshire Brands Menswear and Rio Garment. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Paul Buxbaum, CEO of Hampshire Group, stated, "We are pleased to return the Scott James business back to Scott Kuhlman. He is the founder and creative talent behind the brand and we wish him the best of luck growing the business."
As part of the transaction, Hampshire Group has entered into a license whereby it may operate a sub-brand in order to continue or explore business opportunities with certain customers. Customers of the Scott James division should see no material change in the direction or operations of the brand.
