Today, Champion Athleticwear, makers of authentic athletic apparel since 1919, launched a limited-edition capsule collection, Champion x Dr. Seuss, in collaboration with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, a global leader in educational entertainment. The collection is currently available at Champion’s six retail stores in major cities across the country and on Champion.com and spans hoodies, t-shirts, joggers and crops for both men and women. Beginning in late October, the collaboration will also be available at PacSun locations across the nation.

The collaboration is a natural alignment for both brands as Champion is an authentic American brand synonymous with athletic apparel and embracing the self-expressive story of sports, while Dr. Seuss is one of the most celebrated brands in American history, with beloved stories and characters that are part of the fabric of popular culture. The limited-time collection taps into the nostalgia of Dr. Seuss and resonates with consumers looking for a colorful nod to their childhood.

“We are excited to partner with a renowned brand like Dr. Seuss as consumers continue to look to Champion for unexpected, yet culturally relevant, capsule collections,” said David Robertson, Director Champion Brand Marketing. “With Champion’s timeless pieces combined with embroidery and patches of beloved Dr. Seuss characters, we look forward to seeing how consumers of all ages embrace the collection. Our goal with each new collaboration is to consistently provide top quality, comfortable products inspired by like-minded brands that both surprise and delight.”

Champion’s heritage spans generations, as does the magic and love for Dr. Seuss. Classic Champion staples, such as Reverse Weave®, are reinterpreted with iconic Dr. Seuss designs for on-trend shoppers and is available in a variety of colors including red, gray, black, orange and white. The assortment of sweatshirts, joggers, t-shirts, long sleeved shirts and crops feature screen-printing, embroidery and patches of Cat in the Hat, Horton, Thing 1 and Thing 2, Green Eggs and Ham and more. Both brands’ instantly recognizable logos are blended together for a playful look. Dr. Seuss themed customization will be available at all six Champion retail stores while embroidery in the Dr. Seuss font will be offered at the New York, Boston, Las Vegas and Philadelphia stores.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Champion, this collaboration brings together two iconic American brands, Dr. Seuss and Champion, for a cool collection,” said Susan Brandt, President of Dr. Seuss Enterprises, L.P.

Champion kicked off the collection’s availability online and at retail stores with a whimsical sneak-peak celebration yesterday, October 1, at the Champion SoHo store in New York City, located at 434 Broadway. During the event, guests were the first to shop the new apparel, enjoyed sweet treats like a three-foot Cat in the Hat crispy treat display from Treat House, listened to a slam poetry reading of Dr. Seuss classics by Urban Word NYC, and one lucky attendee won a $250 shopping spree at the store. The event was free and open to all.
