Washington, D.C., Aug. 17, 2018 - Amanda Flores fulfilled a promise to herself when she walked down the aisle at her wedding to Frank Bordoy on Aug. 11, using two microprocessor-controlled knees. Amanda and Frank had already weathered the unthinkable when an infection caused the loss of Amanda's legs above-the-knee and arms below-the-elbow in 2015. Frank proposed shortly thereafter, and Amanda's one condition was that they not marry until she was able to walk independently. Thanks to hard work, dedication, custom-designed prosthetic technology, and a team of supporters, Amanda achieved her dream-while wearing a floor-length dress.

The New York Times covered Amanda and Frank's beautiful wedding for the 'Vows' column, which was attended by a team of Hanger Clinic supporters instrumental in helping Amanda learn to walk again: Amanda's prosthetist Mike Muratore, area clinic manager for Hanger Clinic in Bethesda, Md.; Hanger Clinic Vice President of Prosthetics Kevin Carroll; and AMPOWER peer mentor Yvonne Llanes, among others.
