Hrvatski Telekom dd : At Smart City Expo international exhibition HT presented innovative solutions implemented on Krk and in Zagreb and Bonn

At Smart City Expo, the most prestigious international congress of technology solutions for 'smart' cities, which takes place in Barcelona November 13 to 15, Hrvatski Telekom has shown, as part of the joint exhibition space of Deutsche Telekom, as the best practice of developing 'smart' city technologies, the innovative solution implemented with the help of its partners on the island of Krk, in Zagreb and in Bonn.

Visitors of the fair have had the opportunity to see how the advanced solutions which were developed by experts of Hrvatski Telekom function and whose value and market potential has been recognized at the level of the Deutsche Telekom Group. Implementing these solutions in Croatian cities has enabled them to stay alongside the most innovative cities in the world using new technologies to better manage their resources, to ease their daily lives and to significantly save the budget. The exhibition space of Deutsche Telekom was specially designed on the topic 'Smart Services. Cities for Life.', and special presentation space was given to solutions from five European cities: Trenčíno, Athens, Kazimierz, Gijón and Krk. The DT Group continuously promotes the development of smart solutions, aiming to improve public services and economic development of cities, and thus citizens' lives.

A solution in the area of ​​e-mobility, specifically EV charging system throughout Croatia with a special focus on good practice on the island of Krk sparked the most interest in the entire exhibition space of Deutsche Telekom. Hrvatski Telekom has opened 11 networked EV chargers on Krk, offering a range of functionalities, such as an option to book charging. It is a part of Krk's long-term strategy to become the first 'smart island' in Croatia. Hrvatski Telekom has proven to be the leader in the segment of e-mobility solutions within the Deutsche Telekom Group, with a whole developed ecosystem of infrastructure, services and EV charging.

Hrvatski Telekom's e-mobility solution is the most advanced complete ecosystem of service infrastructure and 'turnkey' charging. HT's EV charging network currently has 120 EV chargers equipped with 165 charging stations in 75 cities throughout Croatia, and the network is expanding continuously. The use of HT's EV chargers more than doubled in 2017 compared to the previous year.

The air control system that continuously analyzes its quality is also HT's solution presented at this prestigious congress. It is a solution that provides a deeper insight into the causes of air pollution, which is crucial for the formation of urban policies to reduce pollution in parts of the city most exposed to it. All visitors in Barcelona could see how these systems implemented in Zagreb and Bonn work and their results.

The third presented solution is a smart system of waste management electronic log. The system includes containers with embedded chips that in real time show that the container is full, after which the system independently plans and predicts the best collection schedule. After the implementation, it proved that this solution optimized the number of on-site collections and reduced operating costs.

The key technology that enables smart city development is the Internet of Things and, thanks to IoT technology, cities have the ability to provide better quality services to their citizens and businesses, while cost and resource consumption are decreasing.

At the end of April, Hrvatski Telekom introduced the first NarrowBand Internet of Things (NB-IoT) network and tariff in Croatia for the implementation of the IoT solution.

NB-IoT is the technology based on the global industry standard for mobile networks, but also the only technology in Croatia that provides the benefits of working in a licensed communication spectrum. Smart parking for disabled persons in Split is the first project in Croatia on the new NB-IoT network of Hrvatski Telekom.

Hrvatski Telekom is the only one in Croatia that offers comprehensive smart city solutions, ranging from basic infrastructure to concrete applications. It is part of the HT strategy as the leader of the digital transformation of Croatia. Knowledge and experience in developing and using advanced digital technologies is Croatia's best preparation for a new wave of technological change that has the potential to completely change the way we work and live.
