Katja Hall is appointed Group Head of Public Affairs, a new position, effective 16 November.
This follows the restructuring of HSBC's Global Communications function into two separate functions, Public Affairs (PA) and Employee Insight and Communications (EIC).
Katja joins HSBC from the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), where she is Deputy Director-General. Katja joined the CBI in 2006 and prior to that was at the British Broadcasting Corp. Katja has led the CBI's policy development and advocacy work. She has represented business interests both nationally and internationally to governments around the world on issues such as financial services, infrastructure and trade.
Katja will report to Douglas Flint, Group Chairman. The new Public Affairs function includes Corporate Media Relations, Social Media, NGO Engagement, Global Businesses external communications heads, Speechwriters, HSBC.com and Corporate Events.

Employee Insight and Communications will report to Pierre Goad, Group Managing Director and Group Head of Human Resources. Culture and Insight, Campaigns, HSBC NOW, Functions and Global Business employee communications and the Archives will be in the new EIC function.
HSBC's global network of country communications teams will support all internal and external communications needs in each market, supporting both PA and EIC. Malcolm Wallis has been appointed Head of Global Network and continues as Head of Communications, Asia-Pacific.
