MWC19: Taking another bold step toward #Making5GReal

I was at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona a couple of weeks ago and it was thrilling to see Inseego everywhere I looked on the show floor. I love MWC shows because they provide the industry with the opportunity to pause and reflect about what we've seen in the past year while also giving us a window into what is coming next. It's the wireless industry's premier annual event and this year it took place at a critical point in time for the entire wireless industry as 5G has finally graduated from a concept (mistakenly dismissed by some as hype), to a concrete commercial reality, with real networks, real products, and exciting new applications and innovations. It's now indisputable that the dwindling number of 'anti-5G'ers' who continue to ride that horse are tragically misinformed!!!

We are proud to be leading this transition, bringing our ground-breaking 5G innovations and technologies into the forefront.

We've done a lot of great work in the past year! In the run-up to the event I was excited to unveil our newly branded, patented MiFi technology, called MiFi iQ. So what is MiFi iQ? It represents the best-in-class connectivity for enterprises and consumers who have sophisticated broadband and IoT needs. It embodies the best of 5G and gigabit Advanced LTE, providing blazing fast speeds, extended coverage, ultra-low latency, and extreme capacity, combined with our unique device-to-cloud approach and cyber-attack proof security. MiFi iQ is already the rage on product blogs and expect to see more in the near future.

One of the questions I'm often asked is, 'Will 5G be that much different from the previous generation of wireless technology?' We at Inseego are decisively answering this question with an emphatic ..YES!! 5G is going to trump anything we've ever seen before. We saw an early glimpse of this at Qualcomm's Tech Summit in December when our 5G hotspots powered a virtual reality Telemedicine application that connected a physical therapists office to a remote patient. We, along with our partners Columbia University, Verizon and Ericsson are very pleased to be laying the foundation to help the millions of people who will benefit from innovations like this in the healthcare industry. At this point, we've only scratched the surface of what is possible with this new technology. At MWC a few weeks ago, we enabled augmented reality for firefighters on the front line, equipped robots with cloud AI, broadcast live 4K Ultra HD streaming video, and presented cloud based VR to the gaming industry. All powered by Inseego 5G NR.

These demos are to show the power of 5G and actually seeing and touching Inseego's products and our commitment to leading the industry. We are not just talking the talk when it comes to bringing 5G to life for our customers and their consumer and enterprise customers, we're walking the walk. We're showing some really cool consumer entertainment applications, none of which could be possible without 5G, but most importantly we're choosing use cases that will benefit society by improving health and saving people's lives.

Special thanks to our engineers and product teams who have brought Inseego to such great heights within our 5G NR product portfolio and to our application engineers who have put their blood, sweat and tears into developing these live demos. They went off without a hitch, and it's all thanks to you guys.

As I have mentioned in my previous blogs, for us, 5G is a marathon, not a sprint. If 5G follows the patterns of 3G and 4G, we expect that 5G will be a 10-year run, so hang on to your hats!

Finally, before I close off, I just want to re-iterate that strong partnerships are key to winning. Over the years we have built strong, mutually beneficial, long-lasting relationships with many industry leaders including operators, chipset vendors, infrastructure players, and test instrument providers. You can see the strength of those partnerships with Inseego's presence in the MWC exhibition booths along with key partners, including Verizon, Qualcomm, Cloud Minds, Sequans, Ericsson, Nokia, KeySight, and Anritsu.

Keep checking back for updates on events happening throughout the year where we'll be showcasing our 5G NR mobile and fixed devices, IoT Gateways, trackers, and much more.

MWC19 was truly an amazing show for Inseego!

Together, we're #Making5GReal!!
