Interserve Group Limited, the international support services, construction and equipment services group, has been awarded a £7.8m contract by the Department for Education to design and build a new two-storey teaching block for Countesthorpe Leysland Community College (CLCC) in Leicester.

The contract has been awarded through the Education & Skills Funding Agency's (EFSA) priority school building programme and will see the college consolidate its estate on to one site following the merger of Countesthorpe College and Leysland High School.

Construction work is scheduled to start in October 2019, with completion in time for the new school year in August 2020. Through the construction of the new teaching block, Interserve will provide greatly improved facilities for students and staff.

Interserve's successful bid for the EFSA contract aligns with its Construction strategy to target attractive risk-adjusted returns in the sectors where it has a market leading customer proposition. These include health, education, and local authority Framework projects; infrastructure; commercial; retail and the private rental sector.

This award continues Interserve's partnership with the ESFA. In 2017, Interserve secured a place on all eight lots in the mid-value band of the ESFA new £8bn construction framework. Interserve has worked with the ESFA for more than 20 years, successfully delivering more than 30 Priority School Building Programme and Free School projects.

Richard Scarrott, Divisional Director at Interserve, said: 'The award of this contract follows our recent successful wins to redevelop the Cedars Academy in Birstall, and Hampton Lakes Primary School in Peterborough. This project will add to our portfolio of school work in the East Midlands, and once again exemplifies Interserve's experience, expertise and capability in building award-winning education projects across the UK.

'We are delighted to have been selected once again by the ESFA as its partner of choice and look forward to delivering this important project, which will bring significant benefits to the local community.'
