MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (AP) _ Intuit Inc. (INTU) on Thursday reported fiscal third-quarter net income of $1.08 billion.
On a per-share basis, the Mountain View, California-based company said it had profit of $4.11. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $4.49 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $4.47 per share.
The maker of TurboTax, QuickBooks and other accounting software posted revenue of $3 billion in the period, which met Street forecasts.
Intuit shares have climbed 11% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has dropped nearly 9%. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $290.23, an increase of 18% in the last 12 months.
