First ever Tabelog commercial to start airing on Nov. 24

Actress Yuriko Yoshitaka to star in two versions of the commercial using the catchphrase "tabeloguru" (="to tabelog")

Tabelog (https://tabelog.com) the restaurant discovery and reservation site operated by Kakaku.com Inc. will start airing its first ever TV commercials on Saturday November 24.

The actress Yuriko Yoshitaka, who is said to use Tabelog regularly, will be the main personality.

Regarding the TV commercials

The commercial will showcase Tabelog's features and online reservation service in time for the year-end when there is increased demand for dining out.

In the commercial, Yuriko Yoshitaka recommends using Tabelog to her colleagues and friends using the newly coined phrase "to tabelog it".

On her way to work, Ms. Yoshitaka is talking to a colleague who has trouble finding a restaurant for an after-work dinner and suggest to "just tabelog it". The next scene shows the colleagues at the restaurant they found through Tabelog. Seeing everyone's satisfied faces, Ms. Yoshitaka says to her colleague: "Why didn't you tabelog in the first place?"

Ms. Yoshitaka is sitting on a bench with her friend, who is having trouble getting through to a restaurant to make a reservation. She suggests to her friend to "just tabelog it" and use Tabelog's online reservation service. At the restaurant, the friend is pleased with how easy it was to make an online reservation and Ms. Yoshitaka says: "You see, it's always better to tabelog!"

The commercial will air as of November 24, 2018 in the Kanto, Kansai, Tokai and Fukuoka region.

The colleague version of the commercial starts out in a park in the outskirts of Tokyo, which has the appearance of a business district. Ms. Yoshitaka who is said to be using Tabelog on a regular basis, liked the phrase of "to tabelog it" right from the start, even though the Japanese phrase is a little hard to pronounce. She suggested different ways of using the phrase, contributing to a lively mood on set. A heavy rain shower caused filming to be delayed by one day, but Ms. Yoshitaka remained cheerful on set.

The dinner scenes were shot in a yakiniku (Japanese barbecue) restaurant and an Italian bar and many delicious looking dishes lined the set. During the scene in the yakiniku restaurant, the smoke from the barbecued meat caused several bloopers.

It took a long time to shoot the commercials but both Ms. Yoshitaka and the staff contributed to a fun and entertaining atmosphere throughout.
