Jakarta, 22 May 2017 - PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) through Kalbe Ethical Customer Care (KECC) today celebrates the National Seniors' Day (HLUN). The National Senior Citizens Celebration that is held at Nyi Ageng Serang Building, South Jakarta, takes the theme of 'Seniors Still Can'. 'Kalbe continues to fill its commitment to the public health by providing services and health educations, one of which is the health of senior citizens,' said Ridwan Ong, Director of Pharma Marketing of PT Kalbe Farma Tbk. 'Through the activity of educating senior citizens, we are constantly encouraging them to remain active and productive in latter year in order to be able to create and be useful for their surrounding communities,' Ridwan added.

The main event of the National Seniors' Day is a health discussion with the theme of 'Seniors Definitely Can', presenting speakers dr. Boenjamin Setiawan (Founder of Kalbe Farma), Prof. Dr. dr. Siti Setiati, SpPD - KGer, M.Epid, FINASIM (Chairperson of the Indonesian Medical Gerontology Association - PERGEMI), Kushartati Winahyo (Senior Influencer Jakarta) and Istati Soedibjo (Senior Influencer Bandung). The theme was chosen to encourage senior citizens to remain healthy, active, and productive in conducting their daily activities and to remain useful for those around them. Aside of that, the day also holds health check-up activities, among which are blood pressure, blood glucose, nutrition levels, consultation with physicians and nutritionist, healthy seniors' aerobics at the venue, super senior show, and senior flash mob.

Since 1996, the Indonesian government has designated 29 May as National Seniors' Day (HLUN). In 2017, the celebration of HLUN will be held through the National Seniors' Day Party with the theme of 'Dignified Living at Advanced Age, Prosperous Seniors.' Indonesia at present is included in countries with ageing population structure, by having the proportion of seniors (60 years and older) of over 7%. It is based from the Susenas Data of year 2015, that there are 21.5 million populations in the senior circle, or approximately 8.43% of the total number of Indonesian population in 2015. The population data showed that the elderly population has the tendency to increase by each year, which inevitably followed by senior citizens' issues. (source: www.bkkbn.go.id)
