Jakarta, 6 Mei 2017 - PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) through the product Vegie Fruit on this day conducted a health education event with the theme 'Smart Mothers Assure the Fulfillment of Vegetable and Fruit Intake for the Family'. The event that is held at Ciputra Medical Centre takes the form of health discussion with Sakri Sab'atmaja, SKM, Msi., Chief of the Partnership Advocacy Sub Directorate of the Ministry of Health and dr. Rida Noor Sp. GK, Nutritionist - as speakers.

'The health discussion is a part of Kalbe's commitment to increase the health of Indonesian families to the better,' said Adelia Pramasita, Brand Manager of Juice Category of PT Kalbe Farma, Tbk. 'It is hoped that through this health discussion, the public can further understand the importance of consuming vegetables and fruits in daily life. This is in line with the program of the Ministry of Health, Healthy Living Community Movement (GERMAS),' Adelia added.

'The Ministry of Health is imploring the public to start making a habit to consume vegetables and fruit on daily basis,' said Sakri Sab'atmaja, SKM, Msi, Chief of the Partnership Advocacy Sub Directorate of the Ministry of Health. 'The first pillar of the Healthy Indonesia program is the attempt to change the public's mindset to have a healthy paradigm. The implementation of health paradigm is run through two efforts; the Family approach; and because the health sector would not be able to work on its own, the approach through cross sectors effort is also conducted through the Healthy Living Community Movement (GERMAS). This year, GERMAS is focusing on three main activities: routine health checkups, performing physical activities, and consuming vegetables and fruit.' Sakri added.

At present, the development of degenerative illnesses such as stroke, heart diseases, diabetes, kidney diseases, etc, of the public is seeing a majorly significant increase due to the unhealthy lifestyle and eating habits. The effect from the unhealthy lifestyle and eating habits is the high cost of healthcare and decrease of level of productivity of the population. To balance the unhealthy lifestyle and eating habits, a routine consumption of vegetables and fruit is necessary. Kalbe through the product Vegie Fruit Premium is present in order to fulfill the public's healthy lifestyle, without having to spend too much.

Based on the Basic Health Research (Riskerdas, 2010), as many as 93.5% of Indonesian people do not consume enough vegetable and fruit. According to WHO, a general number of vegetables and fruit consumption required for a healthy life is 400 grams per day, consisting of 250 grams vegetable (equal to 2 portion or 2 cups of vegetables post cooking and drained), and 150 grams of fruit (equal to 3 medium-sized bananas or 1 medium-sized papaya or 3 medium-sized orange). For Indonesian, specifically preschoolers and school-age children, it is advised to consume up to 300-400 grams of vegetable and fruit per day per person, and 400-600 grams per day per person for teenagers and adults. Two-thirds of the amount is advised to be vegetables.
