KUKA shows mobile robotics at the 'Robotics: Science and Systems' in Freiburg

Augsburg/Freiburg, June 2019 - KUKA will be represented at the 'Robotics: Science and Systems' (RSS) trade fair in Freiburg from 22 to 26 June 2019. At the internationally renowned Robotics Conference, the automation specialist will be presenting a mobile robot application.

With this application, KUKA is demonstrating how autonomously navigating robot systems can make production work easier. A KUKA KMR iiwa - a mobile platform on which a sensitive KUKA LBR iiwa lightweight robot is mounted - transports crates to a roller conveyor.

The Robotics Conference is taking place in Germany for the second time, this time at the University of Freiburg. KUKA and the organizing Institute for Autonomous Systems at the University of Freiburg have a long-standing partnership for the development of algorithms for path planning, localization and mapping with mobile robots.

RSS is one of the most important international conferences in robotics and, in addition to the exhibition, includes various presentations, tutorials and workshops in which KUKA is also involved. Former hosts of RSS include top-class research institutes such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Georgia Institute of Technology and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich.
