Legal & General : Learning the trade at Legal & General Modular Homes

This August we opened our doors to five new apprentices who will join our talent pipeline for the next 3-5 years and help tackle the UK housing crisis.

Our involvement in housing spans nearly 20 years; whether it's through our stake in CALA Homes; delivering a 1,000-home scheme in Crowthorne or investing in a new institutional Build to Rent product. We are a significant investor in living accommodation (including social housing and student accommodation); passionate about bringing housing back to the centre of the UK's cities through large scale mixed-use urban regeneration schemes. To make this happen we also are committed to investors in people.

As part of our continued drive in addressing the housing crisis, our Modular Homes Facility based in Sherburn In Elmet near Leeds has enrolled their first batch of apprentices from local colleges and universities - teaching them useful skills within Modern Methods of Construction, as well as gaining valuable working experience.

Apprentices, along with their parents, were shown around the facility and introduced to their supervisors prior to their start in September. This initiative forms just a small part of our vision for inclusive capitalism, investing into businesses that will have a positive ripple effect in society.

By working and contributing towards building revolutionary, new homes, the apprentices will be:

• Increasing their knowledge and capability whilst gaining relevant qualifications in the sector.
• Becoming part of an emerging talent pipeline within Modern Methods of Construction
• Enhancing their communication and social skills;
• Understanding their contribution to the economy
• Ensuring that we as a business, keep the industry competitive

These are exciting times within Modular Housing and a perfect time to welcome our first ever apprentices to the team. This is a unique opportunity to be involved with disrupting the housing market and in the process, getting hands on experience of a growing business with a special culture whilst gaining valuable qualifications.
