LG Electronics Inc. reported second-quarter results Thursday. Here's what you need to know:

NET PROFIT: The Korean consumer-electronics company posted net profit of 65.60 billion Korean won ($55.1 million), down 38% from the same period a year ago.

REVENUE: Second-quarter revenue fell 18% to KRW12.834 trillion, while operating profit declined 24% to KRW495.40 billion.

WHAT WE WATCHED:

--MISSED CONSENSUS: The company's net profit missed a FactSet consensus forecast of KRW93.38 billion.

--PANDEMIC: The company said earnings growth was weighed by sluggish demand for consumer-electronics and home-appliance goods due to the coronavirus pandemic.

--OUTLOOK: LG Electronics expects revenue to turn around and grow from the third quarter, as global market conditions gradually improve with the easing of pandemic-related lockdowns.
