--The U.S. may halt preparations to deliver F-35 fighter jets to Turkey if that country continues to pursue a purchase of Russia's S-400 air defense system, Reuters reported Thursday.
--Katie Wheelbarger, acting assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs, said allowing Turkey to have the F-35 may compromise security, especially as both it and the S-400 are heavily computerized, and "You don't hook your computer to your adversary's computer," the report said.
--The standoff comes as many U.S. officials worry that Turkey is drifting away from the U.S. and improving relations with Russia, the report said.
--The F-35 is manufactured by Lockheed Martin Corp. (LMT).
