Hospital da Luz Aveiro Hosts First Meeting of Interventional Radiologists Association

Radiologists from all over the country and other health professionals interested in the specialty will gather at Hospital da Luz Aveiro, next March 23, at 10h a.m., in the first general-assembly of the Portuguese Association of Interventional Radiology (APRI). The recently created association started its activity in January this year and has for mission 'training, promotion and education in interventional radiology'.

APRI is presided by Belarmino Gonçalves, radiologist from the units of Hospital da Luz at Aveiro, Lisbon and Vila Real, and coordinator of the Angiography Unit of the Interventional Radiology Service from the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO) in Oporto, the general-assembly's table having for 2nd secretary, Augusto Gaspar, the coordinator of Hospital da Luz Lisboa Imaging Centre and member of the Radiodiagnosis Specialty College from the National Association of Doctors. The remaining internal bodies are represented by Pedro Sousa (as vice-president - from Centro Hospitalar de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro), João Oliveira (secretary-general - from Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Porto), Tiago Pereira (assistant-secretary - from Centro Hospitalar de Vila Nova de Gaia-Espinho), Maria José Sousa (treasurer - from IPO Porto), Paulo Almeida (president of the general-assembly - from Centro Hospitalar Tondela-Viseu) and João Martins Pisco (1st secretary of the general-assembly - from Hospital St. Louis Lisboa).

APRI is a non-profit organization in association or partnership with other international associations, such as CIRSE (Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe). To fulfil its mission, it will invest in the organization of meetings, symposiums and medical congresses, as well as workshops and training sessions for internists.
