The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) recently inaugurated its Banawe 115kV/34.5kV Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substation facility in Quezon City. Said substation will provide additional capacity to serve the growing power needs of customers in Balintawak, Diliman, and San Francisco Del Monte in Quezon City. More than being safe and efficient, the facility has automation capabilities, making it more responsive during operational contingencies. Moreover, this new substation is part of Meralco's continuing efforts to deliver power quality and reliability that is at par with world-class standards. Among the commercial establishments that will benefit from this facility are Capitol Medical Center, Fisher Mall, Puregold Supermarket, Orion Wire Cable Inc., and Container Corporation of the Philippines, among other core customers.
