Manx Telecom plc

Appointment of CCO

Manx Telecom Plc (AIM: MANX), the leading communication solutions provider on the Isle of Man, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ed Jennings as Chief Commercial Officer.

During more than 20 years working in telecommunications, digital and media environments he has held senior roles with a number of blue-chip companies around the world including Virgin Mobile, Ooredoo Group, British Telecom, Orange, and Telecom New Zealand (Spark).

At Manx Telecom, Ed is responsible for commercial strategy for the core telecoms business. He will be focused on leading the company's brand, marketing, product and sales teams to create a more holistic, integrated and customer-centred approach with a view to enhancing Manx Telecom's position as the leading communication solutions provider on the Island. As part of this he will be looking to create innovative, high-quality products to further enhance the company's comprehensive portfolio.

One of Ed's career highlights was the development and launch of the first Virgin Mobile business in the Middle East. As the CEO of Virgin Mobile Qatar, Ed conceived and developed a brand licensing agreement between Virgin Group and Ooredoo Group. He then recruited a team of 180 people to develop and launch a distinct Virgin Mobile business with its own retail stores, call centre operation and a clearly defined suite of branded products. Ed developed and launched the new business from scratch in only eight months.

Before setting out on his career in telecoms and digital media, Ed gained degrees in law and commerce, both from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. He qualified as a Barrister and Solicitor in New Zealand after passing the IPLS (Institute of Professional Legal Studies) Bar exam at the University of Victoria in Wellington.

Gary Lamb, CEO, Manx Telecom, said:

'I'm delighted that we have recruited someone with Ed's outstanding record of achieving business transformation and delivering both world-class customer experience and revenue growth. He brings a vast amount of experience and expertise and is widely respected within the telecoms industry.'

Ed Jennings added:

'The drive to continually improve the quality and overall value of what Manx Telecom offers is something that we take very seriously and this will be a big focus for me. My remit is also to encourage innovation and help the business continue to transform and grow. I'm looking forward to exploring the potential that the company has to become an even more agile and responsive business, and using recent success stories - such as MT clearSound and Manx Telecom's first Isle of Man demonstration of 5G - to inspire and motivate all of our product teams and partners. Manx Telecom is right to be proud of its record of innovation, and I'm relishing the opportunity to play a part in extending that record.'
