Marriott International Inc. on Tuesday said it named Jim Scholefield chief information and digital officer, effective Feb. 24.
The Bethesda, Md., hotel operator said Mr. Scholefield, who was most recently chief information and digital officer at pharmaceutical company Merck & Co., will be responsible for leading all aspects of Marriott's information-technology and digital strategies.
Bruce Hoffmeister, Marriott's current chief information officer, last year announced plans to retire after 30 years with the company. Marriott said Mr. Hoffmeister will stay through mid-2020 to assist with the transition.
