HONOLULU (October 26, 2018) - Matson announced today that it has pledged $125,000 in in-kind and cash support to help with emergency relief efforts in Saipan and Tinian as a result of Super Typhoon Yutu.

'Our hearts are with the residents of Saipan and Tinian as they begin to rebuild after the devastation caused by Super Typhoon Yutu,' said Matt Cox, Chairman and CEO of Matson. 'We are committed to helping with recovery efforts in the way we know best -- by getting much needed supplies, equipment and donations to Saipan as quickly and efficiently as possible.'

Matson operates a weekly service to Saipan. Its vessel Mana departed Guam on Friday, October 26 with scheduled cargo and containers filled with bottled water and ice donated by Matson and equipment from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The vessel arrived on Saturday and is awaiting clearance to dock as soon as the Saipan Port is cleared to open.

Matson has sent additional containers of bottled water and ice from Hawaii, which will arrive in Guam on Tuesday, November 6, for transport to Saipan with arrival on Thursday, November 8.

Cox added, 'Matson has deep connections to the people of Saipan and Tinian, and we are committed to helping these communities recover.'

Matson is working with community organizations in Guam, CNMI, Hawaii and the U.S. West Coast that are collecting donations for Yutu relief efforts in Saipan and Tinian, including Ayuda Foundation and Rotary Clubs in Guam, to transport donations from Guam to Saipan in the coming weeks.

In addition, Matson has started an employee donation drive that will match donations from Matson employees with equal contributions to American Red Cross of Northern Mariana Islands. The program started October 25 and will continue through November 15, 2018.
