MCDONALD'S CORPORATION Upperclassmen received an unexpected visit from Latin trap and reggaeton artist, Bad Bunny, where he announced his year-long partnership with the McDonald's®HACER® National Scholarship
To celebrate the start of the McDonald's® HACER® National Scholarship 2019-2020 application season, McDonald's® made a big announcement with the help of a special celebrity guest. On Thursday, October 10, juniors and seniors at Hialeah High School received an unexpected surprise visit from Latin trap and reggaeton artist, Bad Bunny.
The surprise announcement took place during the scheduled USHLI Student Leadership Summit Presented by McDonald's®, which includes informational sessions about applying to college, available resources and a college and career fair.
During his on-stage appearance, Bad Bunny connected with students, speaking to his passion for education, 'It opens doors, both in your professional career, as well as in life,' said the artist. 'It's a tool to help you achieve your goals. You can all do whatever you'd like, depending on what's in your heart. If you want to be a professor, an astronaut or a musician, you have to study because it will benefit you.'
Although Hispanic college enrollment is at a record high, with 47% of Hispanic high school graduates ages 18 to 24 enrolled in college in 2016, Hispanics still lag when it comes to obtaining a four-year college degree. For many, the high cost of attending college continues to be the number one obstacle to reaching higher education goals. Since 2008, the McDonald's®HACER® National Scholarship has helped young people reach their full potential by providing resources they need to succeed.
As ambassador of the scholarship, Bad Bunny motivated students toapply to the McDonald's®HACER® National Scholarship whichawards Hispanic students a total of $500,000 annually to 30 students with scholarships of up to $100,000. Since 2008, the scholarship has awarded nearly $5 million in financial assistance to students across the country to help them pursue higher education.
