With regard to the Press Release issued by Vivendi to coincide with today's Extraordinary Shareholders' Meeting, we wish to reiterate what was stated by the Chairman Fedele Confalonieri during the Meeting which approved the MFE-Mediaforeurope project, an industrial project that aims to create a pan-European media and entertainment group. 'Vivendi,' said Confalonieri, 'is attempting to overshadow the industrial value of the MFE-MediaForEurope project. It should be remembered, that neither Vivendi, nor Simon Fiduciaria,' Confalonieri continued, 'are entitled to exercise the administrative rights associated with the shares acquired by Vivendi.'

The Board of Directors of Mediaset has not taken any decisions that risk 'dragging the company into serious disputes' as claimed by Vivendi in its most recent and entirely unacceptable statement (Ansa today at 5.31 pm), but has merely recognised the positions assumed by both the Court of Milan and AgCom.

So not only is Vivendi wrong, but it is astonishing that it continues to circulate wholly unfounded allegations with the clear aim of undermining the value of Mediaset shares on the stock exchange.
