Meyer Burger employee wins Gold at the WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi

Tremendous success at the WorldSkills in Abu Dhabi where Meyer Burger employee and Swiss Champion Fabien Gyger won the Gold medal in Mechatronics.

At the WorldSkills Competition from 15 - 18 October 2017 in Abu Dhabi, over 1300 young skilled professionals from 76 countries battled for a world championship title in 50 different professions.

The WorldSkills take place every two years in a different host country. In order to qualify for the international competition, Swiss participants must win the national Swiss Championship in their respective profession at the SwissSkills competition. Meyer Burger employee Fabien Gyger secured his ticket to the WorldSkills 2017 event in Abu Dhabi when he won the Swiss Championship in Mechatronics.

The highlight of the WorldSkills event was the emotional awards ceremony where the World Champions were announced on Thursday, 19 October in the arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Fabien Gyger was a member of the two-person team which won Gold in Mechatronics.

Meyer Burger is very proud of Fabien and congratulates him on his Gold medal win!
