Mitsui : establishes new company to drive strategy in dentistry field, and invests in business engaged in production, distribution of high-quality denture

Mitsui & Co., Ltd. ('Mitsui', Head Office: Tokyo, President and CEO: Tatsuo Yasunaga) has established a new specialist company named M&D Innovations Inc. ('M&D', Head office: Tokyo, President and CEO: Hirofumi Nakahara) to drive its strategy in the field of dentistry, and in November 2018 the company made its first investment, acquiring a stake in BITEC GLOBAL JAPAN INC. ('BITEC', Head office: Tokyo, CEO: Yusuke Washizu).
BITEC is engaged in the production and distribution of 'Comfort Series' dentures, a new silicon-coated alternative to bridges and implants, and the operation of 'HI LIFE Group' dental clinics (total: 28) nationwide, providing high quality custom-made denture treatment by knowledgeable and experienced dentists and technicians. BITEC is planning to expand its business as populations age and life expectancy continues to increase the world over. Through this investment, Mitsui & Co will utilize its comprehensive strength to contribute to the improvement of people's quality of life by offering dentures which enable pain free chewing.

Mitsui & Co. currently offers a new type of orthodontics system through a company it invested in May 2016, which promotes orthodontics using a transparent mouthpiece. Capitalizing on contact points with all Mitsui industries, we will utilize our power in digitalization and materials to deliver innovative prevention and treatment related to products and services in the dental industry.
