Mitsui : receives top award for excellence in corporate disclosure from the Securities Analysts Association of Japan for second consecutive year

Mitsui & Co., Ltd. has been selected for the top award in the commerce industry category at the 2018 Awards for Excellence in Corporate Disclosure for the third time in total and the second year running. It also won second place in the disclosure to individual investors category (selected out of 28 companies that represent the top 10% of each industry). Organized by the Securities Analysts Association of Japan, this was the 24th holding of the awards.

The award selection process is carried out by a corporate disclosure study group established by the Securities Analysts Association of Japan. The study group evaluates the quality, volume, and timing of a corporation's disclosure practices in accordance with the following criteria: (1) management's stance on investor relations, the function of a corporation's investor relations division, and basic stance of a corporation's investor relations, (2) disclosure by means of meetings, interviews and written materials, (3) fairness of disclosure, (4) disclosure related to corporate governance, and (5) voluntary disclosure that conforms to conditions of each industry. Mitsui was ranked first place in the commerce industry category for criteria (1) to (4) and second for criterion (5).

Disclosure to individual investors is evaluated in accordance with the following criteria: (1) activities such as holding briefing sessions for individual investors, (2) disclosure on the company's website, and (3) business reports, etc. Regarding criterion (3) in particular, Mitsui submitted an Integrated Report for the first time this year and following an assessment of its content, we were awarded first place.

Mitsui will strive to further enhance the quality and fairness of corporate disclosure by deepening engagement with all stakeholders, including shareholders and investors, in order to realize our proper market value.
