We are a global family. This is one of our core values, and it's always exciting to see our employees putting it into practice. In Peru, we recently had an office that banded together to make a difference in their local community.

At each beginning of the year, the Human Resources (HR) department in Peru develops a plan of action, with corporate social responsibility as a major topic. As part of the planning for 2018, Rocio Rodas Rojas suggested that NOV support the program 'Angelitos de Cristal' (Little Angels of Cristal). Angelitos de Cristal is a program of the Instituto Nacional de Salud - Hospital del Niño (National Institute of Health) that provides complete medical care for children affected by epidermolysis bullosa, a genetic disease that causes an extreme fragility of the skin. In children with the disease, even the slightest rubbing or irritation can afflict their bodies with wounds and blisters.

The institution receives donations of plastic bottle caps as part of a fundraising initiative. These are used to acquire supplies such as special milk, medicines, and bandages, as well as to help with other needs of children with epidermolysis bullosa.

With only three employees, our Peru HR department, including its manager, Augusto Mendoza Talla, began a campaign for the collection of plastic caps in April 2018, with the slogan: 'Donate caps and 'uncap' many smiles helping children with epidermolysis bullosa.' The stories of how the caps were collected are many, and they have come in from our more than 130 employees at NOV Peru.

The first box of plastic caps was filling up little by little when it was decided that the target would be five boxes, then 10, then 15, until everyone knew they'd reach much more than the goal. At the end of the campaign, the weight of the collected caps had reached a staggering 900 kg-so much that it was necessary to use a pickup truck to transport all the material collected to the hospital.

This result, achieved with limited resources and very positive energy from the people involved, is an excellent example of how very small acts, which seem insignificant on their own, come together as part of a massive act of kindness. Congratulations and thank you to our Peru office for truly coming together and embodying the NOV values to make a difference in the lives of others.
