OnCommand Workflow Automation (WFA) provides a highly flexible automation framework that enables automation of simple to complex storage processes, primarily targeted towards NetApp storage systems. The product by default, ships with over 50 workflows which can be customized to your environment and automation needs. As the platform and workflows have been decoupled, Storage Automation Store allows newer compatible workflows to be downloaded to your WFA instance.

WFA has several user interfaces. Access to the interface depends on the user role. The Operator portal shows the workflows that are available to the operator for execution, allows him to run workflows and check the status of workflow execution. The Designer portal on the other hand, allows an architect to customize an existing workflow or design a new workflow using the design elements. In addition to the above, WFA provides a point of integration through a web services interface to run workflows from external portal and from datacenter orchestration software.

Workflow Automation 5.0 release has officially entered general availability in the first week of February 2019 and the software can be downloaded for linux and windows platforms from https://mysupport.netapp.com/products/ocwfa/5.0/downloads.html

One of the new features with Workflow Automation 5.0 release is HTML5-based user interface. Pages that have been upgraded from Flash to HTML5 are operations portal, settings and administration page, workflow execution, schedules & reservations pages. The designer portal continues to use Flash plugin and will be upgraded to HTML5-based user interface in the next release. The major drivers behind the upgrade are that HTML5 has an open web standard and operates without plugins.

A streamlined approach in WFA 5.0 user interface allows you to access administrative tasks like WFA setup, management and maintenance under administration/settings page.

Changes in WFA 5.0 web user interface also took into consideration the need for a consistent user experience across products in the OnCommand portfolio namely System Manager, Unified Manager and Workflow Automation.

Upgrade your existing WFA instance to 5.0 version or download Workflow Automation 5.0 today!
