New Independent Director for Refining NZ

On behalf of the Refining NZ Board, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Zealand as an Independent Director of the Company.

Paul has 34 years' experience in the oil and gas sector including Chairman and CEO roles with Shell New Zealand and Origin Energy, respectively. He has deep experience of strategic business management, and the HSE, operational risk, and commercial management of complex assets.

Paul's international oil & gas career commenced with Shell as a refinery engineer in the UK, and culminated 24 years later as the Chairman of the Shell companies in New Zealand. Ten years with Australian based Origin Energy involved him in all aspects of oil and gas from exploration through projects to production. Latterly he was the CEO of Origin's upstream oil and gas business where he was instrumental in transforming the company's oil and gas portfolio from a few small onshore assets to incorporate a number of world scale, complex offshore platforms and CSG (coal stream gas) processing facilities, pursuing growth in Australia, New Zealand, Africa and Asia.

The Board believes Paul's wealth of experience will complement that of his fellow Directors and that his insights from the oil and gas sector will contribute greatly to the Company's performance and strategy.

Paul Zealand holds an MBA (distinction) a BSc Mech.Eng. (1st Cl. Hon's.) and is a member of the Australian Institute of Directors.
