Chicago, IL -- Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) is pleased to announce the expansion of its Valuation & Advisory (V&A) practice with the addition of 10 valuation professionals with specializations ranging from appraisal reviews for complex property tax assessment appeals and other forms of litigation; airports and airport support facilities; neighborhood and community retail centers; single- and multi-tenant industrial and office developments; big box retail uses and mixed-use and special-purpose properties. The new hires will be based in the new St. Charles, Illinois office, a key expansion of NKF V&A's coverage in the Midwest.

All joining from RVG Commercial, LLC (Real Valuation Group), new members of NKF V&A are Edward Kling, Peter Helland and Michael Lysien joining as senior vice presidents, Keith Stewart, Donald DiNapoli and Scott Kling as vice presidents, and Steve Bloch, Michael Crum, Agnieszka Jurowska and Brenda Culotta as senior analysts. The new hires will be led by Senior Managing Director and NKF V&A Market Leader for Illinois, Kansas and Missouri, John Mackris, MAI, MRICS, CCIM.

Edward V. Kling, MAI, MRICS joins NKF V&A as a senior vice president. He brings 30 years of appraisal experience and specializes in commercial real estate appraisals and appraisal reviews for property tax assessment appeals and other forms of litigation. He is highly experienced in complex appeals requiring expert witness testimony. Due to a life-long interest in aviation, he has also appraised many airports and airport support facilities. Prior to joining NKF, Kling served as president of RVG Commercial for nearly 20 years.

Also joining NKF V&A is Peter Helland, MAI, AI-GRS, who will serve as a senior vice president. Throughout his 14 years in the industry, Helland has successfully performed valuation services primarily in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Indiana. His clients have included national credit tenants, regional and local property owners, law firms, tax representatives, tax departments, and lenders. His expertise includes commercial real estate appraisals and appraisal reviews for property tax assessment appeals and other forms of litigation. He specializes in complex appeals where expert witness testimony will be required. Prior to joining NKF, Helland most recently served as executive vice president at RVG Commercial, which he joined in 2005.

Michael S. Lysien joins NKF V&A as a senior vice president. He brings more than 12 years of experience performing valuations on a wide range of property types and markets. He has successfully completed valuations on various proposed, partially completed and existing structures, including but not limited to neighborhood and community retail centers, single- and multi-tenant industrial and office developments, big box retail uses and mixed-use properties. Lysien has also appraised a variety of special-purpose properties, including landscape nurseries, concrete batch mixing facilities, churches and mobile home parks. Clients rely on his appraisals for lending purposes as well as retrospective valuations for real estate tax appeal and estate planning purposes.

With 23 years of industry experience, Keith Stewart, MAI, has joined the firm as a vice president. He has extensive experience in preparing full narrative appraisal reports for financing, estate, property assessment appeal, individual and public agency purposes. In addition, Stewart has provided expert testimony for numerous property assessment appeal hearings. He began his real estate career in 1997. The following year, he co-founded Stewart Commercial Real Estate Services, Inc., which specialized in the appraisal of retail, office, medical office, industrial, apartment, mixed-use, restaurant, gas station, airport, automotive-related and special purpose properties throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. In addition to appraising real estate, Stewart has successfully marketed and sold residential and commercial properties throughout the Chicago area.
