Nutrisystem, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTRI), a leading provider of weight management products and services including Nutrisystem® and South Beach Diet® brands, announced today that Dawn Zier, president & CEO of Nutrisystem, Inc. will address 10th and 11th grade students from the Philadelphia School District for the organization’s inaugural STEM Goes Red event on November 13, 2018.

STEM Goes Red is an extension of Nutrisystem’s ongoing support of the American Heart Association and the annual Go Red For Women campaign in the greater Philadelphia region. Zier, who holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and a Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) along with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Stony Brook University, will speak with students about women in sciences and how her educational background in engineering shaped her career.

“I look forward to speaking with these exceptional young women and encouraging them to consider pursuing a career in STEM,” says Zier. “More women at the table means more bright minds pursuing complex solutions for today’s environmental, healthcare and engineering problems.”

STEM Goes Red is a program that aims to prepare and excite female students for the nearly eight million science, technology, engineering and math jobs that will be available by the end of 2018. Even with an abundance of positions readily available, only three in 100 female undergraduate students continue working towards a career in STEM fields after graduation – a statistic that STEM Goes Red is aiming to impact.

Philadelphia School District students in attendance will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on breakout sessions as well as speed mentoring sessions led by female leaders, including several from Nutrisystem.

STEM Goes Red will take place at the Philadelphia School District Building, 400 North Broad Street in Philadelphia on Tuesday, November 13th from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm.
