Ono Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Osaka, Japan; President, Representative Director: Gyo Sagara, 'ONO') announced that ONO has received the 2019 Environment Minister's Award for Global Warming Prevention Activity in 'Implementation and dissemination of Countermeasures' category.

ONO has established a goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 23% in FY2020 compared to FY2005, and been committed to reducing CO2 emissions based on its environmental guidelines. Specifically, in addition to the introduction of photovoltaic generation system in the third research building of the Minase Research Institute completed in 2016 and the Tokyo Building opened in 2018, ONO has reviewed to conduct the following performances on a company-wide level: conversion of fuel for boilers, introduction of high-efficiency chillers, purchase of green power certificates, improvement of power operation and review of operating hours of air conditioning equipment. Additionally, ONO established a medium- and long-term environment challenging vision for 2050, ECO VISION 2050 (Environmental Challenging Ono Vision 2050) in June 2019. To achieve this vision, we also set up a medium- and long-term goals to reduce greenhouse gases including CO2 by 55% by FY2030 and 100% by FY2050 compared to FY2017. Furthermore, ONO will attempt to reduce emissions in cooperation with our business partners by disseminating information inside and outside the company.

Environment Minister's Award for Global Warming Prevention Activity

Since 1998, the Ministry of the Environment has been honoring the remarkable achievements of individuals and organizations towards the prevention of global warming each year in December, the official 'Global Warming Prevention Month'. The award in the 'Implementation and Dissemination of Countermeasures' category is presented to the remarkable achievements towards continuous efforts against lifestyle initiatives that contribute to global warming prevention, effective power saving initiatives in the region, tree planting activities and global warming prevention activities.
