Monterrey, Nuevo León December 9 2011. Organización Soriana,
S.A.B. de C.V. (Soriana) gladly announces the opening of
three new Soriana Hiper stores "Lomas del Valle",
"Chilpancingo" & "Chetumal". These stores are located in
the capital cities of the states of Chihuahua, Guerrero and
Quintana Roo, respectively. With these new units, were
generated more than 550 new direct jobs and an increase in
its installed capacity of sales floor area of 19,340
sq.mts.
With an investment made of $377 million pesos for its
construction, Soriana consolidates its presence in those
states, as well as the arrival of Soriana stores to the
cities of Chilpancingo and Chetumal.
With these 3 new openings the company successfully concluded
its growth plan for 2011, which included the investment of
approximately $3 billion pesos in land acquisition,
construction and start up of operations of 50 new store,
achieving on this matter an expansion in sales floor area of
162, 986 sq.mts represented in (7) Hypermarkets (11), Markets
(3) Supermarkets, (26) Express and (3) City Club.
Additionally 1 store was totally remodelated and 2 more
medium-remodelation, all together generated more than 4,500
permanent new jobs.
During the 4Q2011, there were inaugurated 16 stores under its
different store formats. As of the end of
2011, the company has presence in 181 cities around the 32
states of the country. With more than 3 million square meters
of sales floor area distributed through our 5 store formats,
achieving a total of 558 stores in operation under the
following formats: (234) Hypermarkets, (136) Markets (108)
Supermarkets, (47) Express and (33) City Club.
